How to Make a Simple Toilet Paper Roll Tiny Houses

If you are looking for a super easy and affordable craft activity to do with your kids or students this winter, these toilet paper roll tiny houses (or fairly houses) bring warmth and whimsical feel to your home/classroom. I made these toilet paper roll tiny houses with my arts & crafts workshop kids aged 4 - 8 years old. A perfect craft activity for both younger and older children.

How to Make a Simple Toilet Paper Roll Tiny Houses

What You'll Need:

• Toilet paper roll

• "Toilet Paper Roll Tiny House" free printout (download)

• Colour pencils or markers

• Glue stick

• Scissors

• Optional: LED candle, gem stickers, ribbons and other decoration supplies.

Step 1:

Paint your toilet paper roll. I used acrylic paint for this step. You can also wrap it with a sheet of paper.

Step 2:

Make the door. Using a ruler, measure and draw a 35mm long straight line from the bottom + 30mm long line to the side + 5mm-high curved line to connect the width. The total height of the door should be 40mm and the width 30mm. Once you finished drawing the door, cut the right side + curved top of the door so you can still open/close the door.

Step 3:

Download and print out the free printable "Simple Toilet Paper Roll Tiny House". Using a colouring pencil or marker, colour and decorate the different parts.

Step 4:

Once you are done colouring all the parts. cut them out and stick them onto the toilet paper roll using a glue stick. The roof has a pointy-top cone shape, you don't need to glue the roof to the toilet paper roll. Simply place it on top of the toilet paper roll.

Advanced Option:

You can also paste the roof cutout onto a paper of your choice (I used a hard stock glitter paper), cut and shape into a cone.

Optional:

Decorate your tiny house with gem stickers, ribbons, etc. And for the final touch, you can place the toilet paper roll tiny house on top of a LED candle to add extra warmth & magic-feel!
